" I love people"
"Knowing that I said or did something that inspired others to have hope and accomplish their dreams.Truly, gives me my purpose in life."
I started my music career with one thing: hope. I didn’t have lots of money or famous parents. I didn’t have any industry connections. I didn’t have any music production skills. I didn’t have any knowledge. All I had was my cheap pink guitar, some lyrics, and hope. Hope that a miracle would happen and somehow, I would “make it”.
Unfortunately, I soon found out you cannot “make it” in the music industry with just hope. You need a couple other special ingredients. Jaunty Meek was my special ingredient.
Jaunty Meek and I first met when I was 15 years old, when I was writing songs about my favorite tv show characters. We emailed back and forth for years, me sending her songs and her sending back love, support, and advice. I kept at it. Continued writing, continued bettering myself, and continued growing.
And in 2014, I got a phone call from Jaunty, telling me that she thought I was ready. And into the music industry I went. With my handful of hope.
She was motherly love and support in a scary new industry that I had never known before. Along with Randy Lynch of III Worlds Entertainment and fellow singer/songwriter, Kianna Ryan, I have learned so much over these 9 years working with Death By Lipstick and have grown into a confident woman working in the music industry.
I wouldn’t be here if not for Death By Lipstick. For Jaunty believing in me and pushing me to achieve my goals. I would like to be that person for other aspiring singer/songwriters. A hand to hold, an encouraging smile, a laugh when everything feels a little too much.
Music is so fun. And should continue to be fun whether it’s your job or just your hobby. Music is a way to express yourself. To let loose. To be free.
However, as fun as it may be, it’s not always easy. It’s sometimes scary. Sometimes I want to cry. Sometimes I want to pull my hair out and scream at the top of my lungs. You can’t ride into the Grammy’s with just a handful of hope. You need hard work and passion.
And Death By Lipstick will be there every step of the way. Specializing in educating and supporting their artists, we’re a one stop shop. Photo shoots, studio recording, writing sessions, brand work – Death By Lipstick has everything an artist needs to be successful in the music industry. After that, all you truly need is faith in yourself, passion towards your career, and you guessed it: Hope.
